Who we are
Odd Gigs is a student-founded platform created to optimise fast, short-notice job searching and creation (posting). The modern world is complex, fast-paced and dynamic as ever, deeming jobs with fixed schedules inconvenient and outdated. Odd Gigs provides an intuitive, zero-commitment, connection forum, which enables students, trades-people, or anyone wishing to earn the extra euro to find local deals without the burden of contracts or interviews.
Additionally, Odd Gigs functions in the opposite direction, where those wishing to look for ‘helpers’ or professional workers can scroll to find their perfect match. Alternatively, they can simply post their job and await job-seeker responses.
Please note that transactions do not pass through our platform, meaning our only focus is catalysing communication between the seeking and providing parties.
Our story
Odd Gigs was initially envisioned as a concept during late June of 2026, when after a lengthy onboarding process, complete with interview, and plentiful online discussion, the founder came to the conclusion that she would have to reject a job offer, due to conflicting schedules with university lectures. The job market was clearly lacking something.
A first draft appeared soon thereafter, in early July, after much reconsidering and adjustment, and some market research on the matter. Not until late July did the first presentable plan of the product appear, after which the creation process began. Odd Gigs was created not out of a desire to build online, but out of a need and a problem seen fairly often.
About the founder
I, Lydia Nicholas, am a third year industrial engineering student in Paphos, Cyprus. Having personally struggled with frequent fluctuations in my availability, I decided to build the solution I’ve been searching for, and could not find.
